Rock band L’Arc~en~Ciel is doing a lot this year because they are celebrating 20 years as a band, and what could top off their tour and all their media releases? How about them teaming up with Coca-Cola?
L’Arc~en~Ciel is teaming up with Coca-Cola’s Recovery Support Fund to aid those who were affected by the March earthquake and tsunami. Coca-Cola’s Recovery Support Fund is centered on education and L’Arc~en~Ciel will advertise with them throughout their 20th anniversary celebration, on the web and during their tour.
The band will contribute part of their earnings from the concerts to the recovery support fund. Although revenue from the shows on May 28th and 29th at the Ajinomoto Stadium will be going to the affected areas anyway, most of it will be specifically for the Coca-Cola Recovery Support Fund.
L’Arc~en~Ciel has also posted a message to fans on their Facebook:
“All of the revenue from the 20th L’Anniversary Live shows, on May 28 and May 29 at Ajinomoto Stadium, will be donated to devastated regions. We decided that one part of this amount will go to the Coca-Cola Recovery Support Fund. We approve of the methods of assistance of this fund and the continuity of this project, and hope to spread the word of this project through our 20th anniversary celebration period.
We hope that the Coca-Cola Recovery Support Fund will provide assistance to all children, starting with rebuilding the educational facilities for children in the devasted areas. “
The film “My Back Page“ will be releasing an original soundtrack, and a duet sung by the film’s lead actors, Tsumabuki Satoshi and Matsuyama Kenichi, will be included on the CD.
In a scene in the film, the characters played by the actors sing “Ame wo Mitakai – HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE RAIN“, a cover of a song by the American band Creedence Clearwater Revival. Although there were no plans to put the song on a CD initially, thanks to the decision to release an OST, more people can enjoy the singing voices of the two actors.
“My Back Page” will be released in theatres on May 28th and the OST will hit CD shops on June 8th.
